Need a place inside to come hang out with your friends and family? Salsa Night at Friday Nights @ OMCA is still on, and we’re moving indoors tonight to help keep your lungs healthy and happy. All outdoor events have been relocated to interior spaces (see below) and Off the Grid has been cancelled, but we’ve got you covered for food and drink options with the Blue Oak café staying open until 9 pm. 

Join us for free family craft activities, a salsa and world music DJ set, and salsa dance instruction—all inside OMCA. Enjoy half-price admission to our galleries and free admission for children ages 18 and under. Tonight only, experience our featured band, AstraLogik, inside special exhibition Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown, included with Museum admission (additional $4 fee required).

This fall, experience Friday Nights @ OMCA like you’ve never seen it before inside our special exhibition, Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown. Immerse yourself in the dazzling, colorful world created by artists FriendsWithYou, and enhance your experience with a cash bar, lounge, and pop-up store inside the gallery.

What to expect on October 13:

5–10 pm: Half-off gallery admission for adults, free for ages 18 and under. Purchase tickets inside the OMCA Store on Level 2.
5–10 pm: All Museum galleries open late
5–10 pm: CANCELLED Gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid
5–9 pm: Blue Oak café open late serving grab-and-go food with bar service (cash and credit)
5–9:45 pm: OMCA Store open with great artisan California-themed gifts, apparel, books, toys, and more
5–8 pm: Family-friendly drop-in activity in the Blue Oak café: Make a glow-in-the-dark calavera mask inspired by the upcoming exhibition Metamorphosis & Migration: Days of the Dead and Nature's Gift
5–9 pm: New! Cash bar and lounge inside Nature’s Gift. Access included with special exhibition admission.
5–9 pm: New! Pop-up Store inside Nature’s Gift featuring exhibition-themed gifts and games to enhance your in-gallery experience. Access included with special exhibition admission.
5–9:30 pm: Local beer and wine specials in the California Room on Level 1
5–9 pm: CANCELLED Marketplace @ OMCA featuring local artists and vendors selling their wares in Redwood Burl area on Level 1
5–7 pm: October resident DJ JuanLove spinning salsa hits in the Blue Oak café
6:30–7 pm: Salsa dance instruction with Sean Foster in the Blue Oak café
7:30–8:30 pm: AstraLogik performs inside Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown (included with Museum admission)
7–9 pm: CANCELLED Live salsa music from Rumbache

What's on view? Experience the world premiere of the dazzling immersive installation, Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends, & the Unknown. Check out the newly opened innovative video installation, Question Bridge: Black Males, and don’t miss the final month for Bees: Tiny Insect, Big Impact. Experience all that our Galleries of California Art, History, and Sciences have to offer.  

Cost: Half-price gallery admission for adults, ages 18 and under are free. There is an additional $4 charge for admission to Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends, & the Unknown. Admission for Members is always free. Cash bar. 

Transportation: OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 10:30 pm. 

Save your spot! Please note that picnic table rentals are not available on Friday, Oct. 13. All reservations have been contacted to reschedule. Reserve a picnic table for your group during Friday Nights @ OMCA or book a Friday Night lounge through Event Services.
