Friday Nights @ OMCA
Warm up this winter with Friday Nights @ OMCA, a hot evening of local music, food, art, and culture! Savor California beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages around the Koi Pond at the Blue Oak beer garden. Enjoy half-price admission, live music, hands-on activities for kids, a pop-up art market in the Redwood Burl area, and extended OMCA Store hours. Get a taste of the hottest in Bay Area curbside cuisine!
What to expect on February 3:
5–9 pm: Half-off gallery admission for adults, free for ages 18 and under
5–9 pm: Local beer and wine specials in the Blue Oak beer garden
5–9 pm: All Museum galleries open late
5–9 pm: Gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid featuring the best in local cuisine: get the weekly list here
5–9 pm: OMCA Store open with great artisan California-themed gifts, apparel, books, toys, and more
5–9 pm: Marketplace @ OMCA, featuring local vendors selling their wares in Redwood Burl area
5–6:15 pm: Celebration and discussion of new book Creating the Visitor-Centered Museum by Peter Samis and Mimi Michaelson, with Peter Samis in conversation with OMCA Director and CEO Lori Fogarty
5–6:30 pm: February resident DJ Davey D spinning hits in the 10th Street Amphitheater
5–8 pm: Family-friendly drop-in activity: paint a peace rock with powerful words to share with your friends and family, inspired by special exhibition All Power to the People: Black Panthers at 50
6:30–7 pm: Hip Hop dance instruction with Rama Hall in the Koret Plaza
7:15–9 pm: Live band SOL Development & Mino Yancey playing hip hop, jazz, and soul music in the Koret Plaza
7:30–7:45 pm: A Snack Size Docent Tour, a fifteen-minute mini-tour led by a talented OMCA Docent to introduce you to one of the Galleries. Discover the surprise theme and meeting location of the night at the ticketing desk.
Garden Access: Please note, OMCA's garden and terraces are now closed during Friday Nights @ OMCA until April 2017. More information on garden access.
Cost: Half-price gallery admission for adults, ages 18 and under are free. Admission for Members is always free. Cash bar. Prices vary for Off the Grid food trucks.
Transportation: OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm.
