Get your Oakland groove on at Friday Nights @ OMCA with Off the Grid food trucks, music, and more! Join OMCA every Friday for a family-friendly take on a festive night market. Enjoy the best in Bay Area curbside cuisine from gourmet food trucks, local beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages at the Blue Oak beer garden, live music, and dance lessons. Get creative at family-friendly drop-in workshops, learn from local foodies in the Makers & Tasters Series, and enjoy special guest performers and events. Gallery admission is half-price for adults and free for ages 18 and under!

What to expect on October 7:

11 am–10 pm: OMCA Member preview for new exhibition All Power to the People: Black Panthers at 50
5–10 pm: Half-off gallery admission for adults, free for ages 18 and under
5–10 pm: All Museum galleries open late
5–10 pm: Gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid featuring the best in local cuisine: get the weekly list here
5–9:45 pm: OMCA Store open with great artisan California-themed gifts, apparel, books, toys, and more
5–9:30 pm: Local beer and wine specials at the Blue Oak bars in the Koi Pond area, the Great Hall, and Oak Street Plaza 
5–9 pm: Gardens open for family fun
5–9 pm: OMCA Store pop-up in the Redwood Burl area
5–9 pm: Marketplace @ OMCA, featuring local vendors selling their wares in Redwood Burl area
5–6:30 pm: DJ Rickey Vincent spinning hits in the 10th Street Amphitheater
5–8 pm: Family-friendly drop-in activity: Make a paper marigold for Días de los Muertos
6–8 pm: Makers & Tasters series on food activism featuring Rubicon BakeryPlanting Justice, Imperfect Produce, and Acta Non Verba, organizations making a difference in the community through food inspired by the revolutionary free breakfast programs of the Black Panther Party and by upcoming exhibition All Power to the People: Black Panthers at 50, opening Saturday, October 8
6:30–7 pm: Zydeco Dance with Lance Henry instruction in the 10th Street Amphitheater
6:30–8:30 pm: Acoustic performer Urban Folk with Haji Basim setting the mood in Oak Street Plaza
7–9 pm: Live band Andre Thierry playing Zydeco and alternative Creole music in the 10th Street Amphitheater
7:30–7:45 pm: A fifteen-minute Snack Size Docent Tour in one of OMCA’s Galleries—you won’t know which one until the tour begins!

Cost: Half-price gallery admission for adults, ages 18 and under are free. Admission for Members is always free. Cash bar. Prices vary for Off the Grid food trucks.

Transportation: OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $5 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 10:30 pm.
