Sunday, August 7, 2016 - 10:00am

Don’t miss the 12th annual Summer Reading Celebration at the Oakland Museum of California with the Oakland Public Library. Held in OMCA’s lush gardens on First Sunday @ OMCA, activities will highlight this year’s theme, “Read, Create, Explore!” Enjoy music and movement with the Alphabet Rockers and get your portrait drawn by caricature artist Rad Sanza. Say hello to Clifford the Big Red Dog, play games, have your face painted by staff from Oakland Parks and Recreation, try your hand at art activities with California Historical Society, explore your imagination with story time, and enjoy so much more. Pick up a book from East Bay Children's Book Project for free.

Don’t forget to check out the Galleries of California Art, History, and Natural Sciences while you’re here, pick up a treat for yourself or a loved one in the OMCA Store, or enjoy a lunch or snack in Blue Oak café. Join an OMCA Docent for the Architecture Tour or the California History Tour at 1 pm.

Suggested donation: $5 per person. Your contribution helps us provide access to others.
